Wooden shoes and manufacturing

Wooden shoes are made from a raw material with a low environmental impact. Both in the way of exploitation, in the work or transformation, as well as in the obtaining of the boards for the manufacture.

However, wood is not considered as an ecological material itself. Among its characteristics we find that it is:

Renewable through sustainable processes of exploitation, biodegradable becoming fertilizer products, and recyclable, since it is easy to convert it into another product and reuse.

Also, if we read the latest studies on deforestation, we can see the constant increase in CO2 levels on the planet.

Due to the bad management of wood exploitation processes, fires and construction.

In addition, as a consequence of these negative effects. A variety of environmental organizations are fighting for sustainable exploitation. And this is how the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) came about.

Later on, the Confederation of European Private Forest Owners was launched and called PEFC.

As well as several certificates that confirmed the manufacture with noble wood from sustainable processes.

The PEFC certificate

The PEFC certificate verifies the origin of the wood used to make wooden shoes, clogs and sandals in our case.

Among its key points, this seal certifies several actions by the companies that have it:

  • They avoid deforestation with soil conservation.
  • Fires are reduced, thanks to the protection of the areas.
  • Long-term protection of the environment.
  • Respect and care of the planet when consuming products with this certificate.

Also, as we indicated in the last point, to consume products manufactured in a sustainable way is always a plus.

You will be contributing to stop the massive increase of CO2 in our planet.

Among the variety of products that we find in the market we can choose many in wood: packaging for our company, containers for our restaurant, clothes hangers, handmade products, decoration, among many.

Claire Charlotte, the most sustainable wooden sandal brand

At Claire Charlotte we are environmentally conscious. We always try to choose the highest quality materials, and those that come from suppliers with sustainability certificates.

We believe that the love of wood starts with the conservation and replanting of trees. Without damaging the forests or the ecosystem.

That is why the noble wood with which we work and create our wooden sandal models is chosen through a meticulous process.

We love the details, from the choice of materials, to the creative representation of each model.

We are experts in wood, applied to the soles of our shoes. We know the wood we work with from close up: its origins, the age of the trees, etc. And we certify that it is of high quality.

The manufacturing process of our wooden shoes

The manufacture of our wooden clog style shoes starts from obtaining national pine wood planks.

These trees are cut and wait 1 year in their place of origin. Because the temperature varies and the wood can suffer.

Once this time has passed, the wood can travel and reach any geographical point to work with it.

These noble planks, in our factory are the raw material to create each model Claire Charlotte.

After receiving the wood, we begin the manufacturing process:

  • Design and pattern making: adjust the measures and forms desired.
  • Profiling.
  • Contouring.
  • Sanding and concave.
  • Painting.
  • Wax polishing.

Once the wood is finished, down to the smallest detail, we start with the leather and the decorations.

As well as the side studs, a symbol of the traditional clog that accompanies us throughout the collection.
